Recently the fraud squad of Rome has placed under preventive seizure and blacked out 27 websites that allowed to download or view streaming illegal movies and music. The SIAE has estimated that it was one of the most important worldwide seizures and the first of this scale in Europe, considering that the total loss amounts to approximately 1.5 billion euro, of which 800 million in the film industry and 700 million in the music industry. The inspections made it possible to block the downloading of at least 400.000 movie videos and a much larger number of audio and software products distributed in violation of copyright laws. A damage of almost 3 billion euros a year for loss of earnings and reinvestment for the arts sector.
