EU Parliament plenary session has backed today the directive to reform the copyright law, much debated in the last few months. Following a further consent from the Council (a mere formality), the reform will be law. Controversial articles 11 and 13 (articles 15 and 17 according to the final draft of the Directive) are thus confirmed. Art. 15 (ex art. 11) foresees the possibility for the editors to be remunerated for the use of their contents by the big Internet platforms (Google on all). Art. 17 (ex art. 13) introduces a responsibility upon the platforms (only the ones with a turnover of more than Euro 10 mln and more than 3 years of activity) for the publishing of copyrighted contents by unauthorized subjects.
