World Intellectual Property Indicators

WIPO published the "World Intellectual Property Indicators" The WIPO's report of 2014, relating to filing applications and registrations of the year 2013 for patents, utility models, trademarks, industrial designs, plant varieties and microorganism, with data coming from national and regional IP offices, WIPO and the World Bank, reveals as follows: - The number of patent applications increased of the 9% worldwide, the 25% of the total is due by China itself ; - Trademarks applications grew by 6% worldwide; also in this case China lead the rise with about 14%, followed by the USA with 13%; - Applications for industrial design, instead, after a significant growth especially in 2010-2012, decreased in 2013.
