The Madrid Protocol enters into force in the State of Israel

From September 1, 2010 the Madrid Protocol will enter into force in the State of Israel. The main implications are the following: - applications for international registrations may be filed to the Israeli Trademark Office; - Israeli Trademark Office will examine trademark applications designating Israel; - International registrations filed under the Madrid Protocol will be extended to Israel: national registrations will be converted to international registrations and vice versa; - multi-class registrations; - trademarks will be registered and renewed for periods of ten years. Therefore the registrations which would have expired between September 1, 2010 and November 30, 2010 may be renewed by August 31, 2010 for an extended period of fourteen years.
