New regulation on Customs enforcement of IP rights

On June 12, 2013 the EU Regulation No. 608/2013 concerning Customs enforcement of intellectual property rights has been approved. This Regulation repeals the Council Regulation (CE) No. 1383/2003 of July 22, 2003, concerning Customs action against goods suspected of infringing certain intellectual property rights and measures to be taken against infringing goods. The Regulation, which main purpose is to provide a more effective protection of the intellectual property rights, reinforcing the measures implemented by Regulation No. 1383/2003 to fight counterfeiting, will completely come into force as of January 1, 2014.
