The italian football club FC Internazionale wins the first round of the dispute for the trademark "inter", dispute that sees the black and blue football club against David Beckham's Inter Miami, american football club that is ready to play in the MLS.
FC Internazional has filed in 2014 a US trademark "inter" that has been opposed by MLS, owner of the trademark "CLUB INTERNACIONAL DE FUTBOL MIAMI MMXX" because, in their opinion, there is a risk of confusion for the consumer and because the word "inter" is descriptive and commonly used by football teams.
USPTO has, in its decision of the 3rd february last, refused MLS' request, leaving MLS with not many more arguments.
The case will now go on and a final decision should be taken by USPTO by the end of the year.
