A recent study, conducted by the Ministry of Economic Development, in collaboration with Assocalzaturificio and Anfao, that examined 700 thousand documents related to 54 brands of shoes and 57 brands of glasses, found out that the infringement on the major e-commerce platforms is 73% in the footwear industry and 54% in the eyewear industry. This situation results in a loss of turnover for Italian firms; such loss was estimated by Assocalzaturificio between 190 and 240 million euros per year and by Anfao between 100 and 150 million euros per year.
