Results of a research study conducted by Istituto Piepoli and Confcommercio in 2008 about the counterfeiting phenomenon in Italy have been notified few days ago. According to the report, 33% of the Italians have bought at least one counterfeited product in the last two years. In 50% of the cases, the purchase has been made on holiday, on the beach or in the historical centres, during a tour or a trip abroad. Above all young adults, from 18 to 34 years old, buy counterfeited goods, giving as principal justification (in 50% of the cases) the convenience of price. For this reason, an accurate strategy for IP protection is now even more necessary, in order to act as an efficient method of contrast.
