ICANN has accepted the registration of domain names with .xxx extension for web sites with contents concerning the adult entertainment industry. In order to prevent possible abuses and avoid that trademarks not related to this kind of industry will be registered as domain names by third party and used as web sites containing improper contents, a period of Sunrise will be open starting from September 7th, 2011 to October 28th, 2011. The Sunrise period will be opened only for the owners of registered trademarks (not related to the adult entertainment industry) and will allow the precautionary pre-recording of possible domain names with .xxx extension (which must be identical to the registered trademarks), which will be blocked for 10 years in order to avoid their registration by a third party.
