FROM POLYTECHNIC OF TURIN THE NEW EUROPEAN PATENT

One patent for the whole Europe, able to provide a 360° protection in all countries of the Old Continent. The project is carried out by the Council of Europe with the potential to deeply change the world of IP, guaranteeing to companies and research centres a more efficient protection and better terms and provisions. Part of the reform goes through the IP Finance of Turin, which in recent days has won a tender promoted by the European Commission for the quality assessment of the current European patent system. The project consists of a survey, aimed to highlight the perceived quality of domestic and international patent systems, as well as the legal obstacles of the patent process. The goal of the European Commission is to improve the European patent system, which, not having a common jurisdiction in respect of counterfeiting, is expensive and not really functional. A unique system in the Community context will allow substantial time and money savings and will bring Europe closer to the levels of competitiveness of the United States and Japan.
