Don’t mess with Wine in Italy.

Italian police scored one of the most significant seizures of sparkling wine in Europe. The Police of Veneto, the Italian region famous worldwide for its Spumante, seized 9.000 ready to be sold bottles of “Moët & Chandon” Champagne. The police operation occurred last year, was published only last Monday, in order to permit further investigations. The value of such seizure is around € 350.000 but the illicit activity could have worth more considering the 40.000 labels found by police in the shed, estimated of €1,8M . The counterfeit of luxury goods, that began with fashion related products, is now affecting other kind of products, wine is undoubtedly on the list of the goods to be protected.
