Changes to the publication timing options for international designs

Hague News of 01-12-2021
Starting from January 1, 2022, the Hague System will provide greater flexibility and control in the timing of publication of international designs registrations based on business needs.
In particular, the default "standard publication" time for international registrations will be increased from 6 to 12 months after the registration date. This will give more time to plan marketing strategy while keeping projects confidential. Alternatively, it will be possible to continue to select "immediate publication" (i.e. shortly after the registration of the international registration).
In addition, a new option will be added: "publication at a chosen time" (counted in months from the filing date). This will allow to indicate a period in advance of the "standard publication". However, publication may be postponed beyond the standard publication period, up to 30 months from the filing date or, in the case of priority from a previous filing, from the priority date.
