The Network Information Center Mexico started the opening of domain name registrations directly under .MX from May 1st, 2009. The registration directly under .MX TLD, offers attractive and relevant attributes for Internet users related with Mexico, such as shorter domain names, the possibility of not been restricted to a certain type of organization, and the direct identification with Mexico on the Internet, among others. The .MX opening will be released in phases, through an ordered process divided in 3 stages: Pre-Registration Period - Starts May 1st 2009 - Ends July 31st 2009 Quiet Period, August 1-31st 2009 Initial Registration Period, September 1st 2009 The Pre-Registration Period is only open to holders of domain names: .com.mx, net.mx, org.mx, edu.mx and gob.mx. The registration will open to the public from September 1st 2009.
