Ermenegildo Zegna Group Vs Guangzhou Fuyn

The Chinese court of Guangzhou recently ruled against Guangzhou Fuyin, stating that the Chinese trading company cannot continue its activity of counterfeiting trademarks owned by the Italian fashion group, Ermenegildo Zegna. In addition, the court has also imposed a 290,000 fine.

According to the verdict, Guangzhou Fuyin’s line of men’s clothing has violated Ermenegildo Zegna’s rights by imitating its trademarks design and text, which had a likelihood to cause confusion – i.e. the Zsnoi, Zzsnoi and Zsnoipor Collections.

The first Ermenegildo Zegna boutique opened in Beijing back in 1991 and in 24 years of activity in Chinese territory, the trademarks Ermenegildo Zegna, Z Zegna and Agnona has gained popularity.

Since 1973 – the year in which the first trademark (“Zegna”) was registered in China – the fashion group has created a system that aims at the complete protection of its rights in compliance to the Chinese law.
